Overview

Advancing intensive cardiac care

The modernization of the 15,000 SF cardiac ICU at Inova Schar Heart and Vascular transforms an aging unit into a highly responsive environment for today’s rising cardiac acuity. Twenty-four patient rooms were fully renovated to enhance safety, visibility, and comfort, supported by advanced monitoring and robust infection-control strategies. A shared ADA jack-and-jill restroom model minimizes patient movement and improves staff workflow within the constraints of the existing structural grid. Two dedicated isolation rooms and strategically placed team stations further strengthen care coordination, enabling clinicians to respond quickly to complex patient needs and deliver consistently high-quality cardiac critical care.

Elevating ICU performance

Modernized rooms, isolation spaces, and integrated monitoring support high-acuity cardiac care. The shared ADA restroom model improves workflow, maximizes visibility, and reduces patient transfers within the constrained existing floorplate.
