As the anchor of the Center for Personalized Health, the Inova Schar Cancer project consolidates diagnostics, treatment, clinical trials, and supportive services into one coordinated setting. The design enables caregivers to collaborate across specialties while improving access for more than 400 daily patients. Adaptive reuse strategies reduced waste and preserved existing assets, while targeted additions accommodate highly specialized functions, including proton therapy and multiple linear accelerator vaults. Nature-rich interiors, flexible infusion experiences, and intuitive public spaces create a healing environment shaped by extensive patient and caregiver input.
