Overview

Advancing high-quality, connected care

The new University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center fulfills a long-held vision to expand access to high-quality care for Prince George’s County. Replacing an aging, dispersed system, the campus establishes a modern, efficient hub for trauma, emergency, surgical, maternal, behavioral health, and specialty services. Its 220 private beds, advanced surgical platform, dedicated women’s and infants’ care, and specialized units reflect a forward-looking clinical model built on flexibility, patient experience, and operational precision. Designed alongside a new ambulatory care center, the medical campus improves convenience with co-located outpatient practices, cancer care, and diagnostics. Positioned adjacent to Metro and planned mixed-use development, the project anchors a growing, walkable district while creating a cohesive, technology-enabled environment that elevates care delivery for the region.

Expanding access and trust

Replacing an aging, dispersed system with a centralized, efficient medical center has strengthened access to comprehensive care in Prince George’s County. Designed for 47,000 annual ED visits and equipped for trauma, maternal care, cardiac services, and behavioral health, the facility supports population health needs while fostering community confidence. Healthcare at the heart of a transit-connected community

Strategically located beside the Largo Metro Station and the Capital Beltway, the medical center anchors a transit-oriented district that expands access to care and supports long-term community growth. Strong connectivity reduces barriers for transit-reliant residents and positions the campus as a catalyst for a walkable, mixed-use environment with future development, pedestrian links, and multimodal access.
