Overview
The multi-phased renovation of the Emily Couric Cancer Center and Breast Care Center strengthens UVA Health’s comprehensive outpatient cancer care by expanding infusion therapy, elevating diagnostic capabilities, and improving operational flow across two connected environments. A major component of the project is the fit-out of shelled space to create a new 54-bay infusion center organized into light-filled neighborhoods supported by a decentralized staffing model that adapts to real-time patient needs. Complementary upgrades establish a USP-800 compliant infusion pharmacy, updated clinic and staff support areas, and an improved lobby sequence that enhances clarity and arrival. The nearby Breast Care Center adds dedicated mammography, ultrasound, stereotactic, and minor procedure rooms, along with six infusion stations, creating a streamlined and patient-centered diagnostic and treatment experience. Together, these coordinated improvements advance safety, flexibility, efficiency, and comfort for patients, families, and care teams.
