Healthcare professionals dedicate their lives to caring for others—but who ensures that these caregivers receive the support and resources they need to grow, recharge, and excel?
Adventist HealthCare is answering that question with its new Support Center, a thoughtfully designed environment dedicated to continuing education, training, and professional development for nurses, clinicians, and staff across the organization.
This new facility underscores Adventist HealthCare’s commitment to providing the highest quality care by investing in the people at the heart of their mission. The Support Center brings together education, collaboration, and wellness in one modern, uplifting space.

Located within Adventist HealthCare’s existing headquarters in Gaithersburg, Maryland, the new Support Center occupies two renovated floors designed to foster connection and focus. The ground floor greets staff with a bright and inviting reception area, setting the tone for a day of learning and engagement. Adjacent to reception, a learning gallery provides flexible touchdown spaces—complete with a communal table, comfortable lounge seating, and technology access for casual work or collaboration between sessions.
A nearby café offers grab-and-go beverages and snacks, creating a relaxed hub where staff can recharge and interact throughout their training day. The design encourages spontaneous conversation and knowledge-sharing, reinforcing the sense of community that defines Adventist HealthCare.
At the heart of the Support Center are three adaptable conference rooms that can function independently or be combined into a single large lecture space accommodating up to 150 participants. This flexible design supports a range of programming—from small workshops and certification sessions to organization-wide meetings and leadership forums.
Beyond the conference zone, the Support Center features simulation training labs and debriefing rooms that allow clinicians to refine hands-on skills in realistic healthcare environments. Dedicated administrative offices support program planning, staff coordination, and ongoing professional development initiatives.

Wilmot Sanz worked closely with Adventist HealthCare to ensure the design reflects the organization’s spiritual foundation and compassionate mission. A striking seven-paneled art installation illustrating the creation story anchors the main corridor, positioned above a comfortable seating alcove where learners can pause for reflection. This symbolic piece not only brings visual beauty to the space but also reinforces Adventist HealthCare’s enduring values of faith, healing, and service.
On the fourth floor, the project introduces an executive boardroom suite designed to accommodate strategic meetings and leadership gatherings. The 22-seat boardroom offers panoramic skyline views of Montgomery County and features custom banquette seating, integrated state-of-the-art audiovisual technology, and warm material finishes that balance professionalism with comfort.
A welcoming lounge area—complete with an electric fireplace, soft seating, and a catering pantry—provides space for informal discussion and hospitality before and after meetings, promoting connection among leaders and teams.

The Adventist HealthCare Support Center represents more than a training facility—it’s a tangible investment in the organization’s people. By providing a calming, contemporary environment that supports education, collaboration, and reflection, the center helps staff strengthen their skills and confidence while staying aligned with the mission of whole-person care.
In this new setting, Adventist HealthCare’s commitment to nurturing its caregivers shines as brightly as its dedication to patient well-being—creating a lasting impact that begins with those who serve.
