Wilmot Sanz is proud to join Christiana Care Health System and members of the Wilmington community in celebrating a major milestone: the dedication of Phase 1 of the Wilmington Hospital Transformation Project. Held on May 31, 2013, the dedication ceremony marked the unveiling of the Carol A. Ammon South Tower, a cornerstone of the hospital’s sweeping campus revitalization effort.

This moment represents more than a construction milestone—it signifies a renewed commitment to providing accessible, high-quality, and compassionate care to the heart of Wilmington.

A New Front Door to World-Class Care

The newly dedicated Carol A. Ammon South Tower introduces a welcoming new main lobby and a significantly expanded emergency department, redefining the patient and visitor experience from the moment they arrive. These new front-facing components not only improve operational flow and comfort but also reflect Christiana Care’s identity as a trusted provider deeply embedded in the community it serves.

From the earliest planning phases, Wilmot Sanz worked closely with the health system to reimagine Wilmington Hospital’s role as both a state-of-the-art medical facility and a community landmark. The result is a modern, efficient, and human-centered environment that supports both urgent care needs and long-term health partnerships.

Congratulations to Christiana Care

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Christiana Care Health System, its leadership, staff, and community partners on the successful dedication of Phase 1 of this landmark project. It has been a privilege to collaborate on a design that will serve generations of patients with dignity and excellence.
