We have twice the reason to celebrate! This year two of our recent healthcare projects have been named winners in the 15th Annual IIDA Healthcare Design Awards!
Recognizing outstanding originality and excellence in healthcare interior design, the awards celebrate spaces that elevate the patient experience, support caregivers, and advance the future of healthcare environments. This year's recognition honors two projects that embody our commitment to creating thoughtful, innovative spaces designed around the people who use them.
Category Winner: Hospitals (Community)
Designed to transform the patient experience while meeting the evolving needs of a growing community, Horizon Tower brings together innovative clinical planning, welcoming interiors, and meaningful connections to nature.
The new patient tower features thoughtfully designed care environments that balance operational efficiency with comfort and compassion. From intuitive wayfinding and inviting family spaces to vibrant nursing hubs and restorative staff areas, every detail is intended to support patients throughout their healthcare journey.
Nature plays a central role in the design, with landscaped terraces, outdoor respite spaces, and biophilic elements that bring a sense of calm into the hospital environment. Together, these features create an uplifting setting that supports healing while helping clinical teams deliver exceptional care.
Category Winner: Ambulatory (Cancer Center)
Reimagining the cancer care experience, the Mandy & Dennis Weinman Cancer Building combines advanced treatment environments with hospitality-inspired interiors to create a welcoming, supportive destination for patients and their families.
A dramatic two-story living wall, sculptural open stair, and warm natural materials establish a calming atmosphere from the moment visitors enter. Throughout the building, thoughtfully designed treatment spaces offer comfort, privacy, and opportunities for connection.
Special attention was given to the unique needs of adult and pediatric patients, including welcoming infusion areas, family support spaces, and a playful pediatric Infusionarium that transforms treatment into a more engaging, positive experience.
By blending high-performance clinical environments with compassionate, human-centered design, the building demonstrates how architecture and interiors can help ease the emotional challenges of cancer care.
While these projects serve different patient populations and clinical needs, they share a common purpose: creating environments that make healthcare better for everyone.
From the bustling activity of a community hospital to the deeply personal journey of cancer treatment, both projects demonstrate how thoughtful design can improve experiences, support clinical teams, and create meaningful connections between people and place.
We are incredibly proud of our team's creativity, dedication, and collaborative spirit, and grateful to our partners at Adventist HealthCare and LifeBridge Health for trusting us to bring these visions to life.
Congratulations to everyone involved in these award-winning projects! We're honored to see both recognized among this year's outstanding examples of healthcare design.
