Kaiser Permanente is embarking on an ambitious, multi-year effort to modernize its Mid-Atlantic facilities—strengthening access, elevating care environments, and preparing its campuses for the future of outpatient and ambulatory medicine. Wilmot Sanz is proud to support this healthcare provider through planning, architecture, and interior design.
Across the region, the Kensington Medical Center is undergoing its own major interior transformation. This 40,000-SF renovation focuses on refreshing the upper three floors of the outpatient facility, introducing new specialty clinics, a vision care suite, and an on-site pharmacy to enhance convenience, continuity, and the overall patient experience.
While the lower floors—including surgery suites and labs—remain operational and largely untouched, the redesigned outpatient spaces feature updated finishes, refined details, and a cohesive palette that aligns with Kaiser Permanente’s enterprise design standards. The goal is not only modernization but cohesion: creating a seamless, intuitive environment across specialties and services.
One of the most visible upgrades occurs within the expansive, glass-filled atrium. Here, the design replaces the existing wood and metal railing with a sleek, transparent glass system—opening views, enhancing daylight, and reinforcing the organization’s contemporary design language. The new railing reinforces a sense of clarity and wellness, supporting a brighter, more welcoming arrival experience for patients and staff alike.

This project reflects Kaiser Permanente’s commitment to delivering exceptional care through exceptional environments. From large-scale, multi-phase modernization to targeted interior renewal, the investments Kaiser Permanente is putting into its facilities strengthen outpatient access, streamline patient flow, and elevates the quality of care throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
Wilmot Sanz is honored to partner with Kaiser Permanente on these transformative efforts. As healthcare continues to evolve, we are dedicated to designing spaces that empower caregivers, support members, and stand ready to meet the needs of a rapidly growing region.
